Our work together

Psychotherapy and Depth Psychology

Perhaps you feel lost or stuck. Or perhaps you're suffering from grief, anxiety, trauma, or depression. Our first task in working together will be to create a warm environment where we can be authentic with each other. In our sessions we will explore your hopes, goals, and dreams and tend to the psychological wounds that have been causing so much pain (and probably holding you back from living the life you want to live).

The most important part of any psychotherapy is the relationship. It’s vital that you feel comfortable with me, and it’s vital that whatever I have to offer meets your needs. My own style of psychotherapy is deeply collaborative. My job is to help you discover, on the deepest level possible, who you are. And to help give birth to what is trying to emerge in your life.

SERVICES I PROVIDE:

  • INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY: I primarily offer one-on-one psychotherapy for adults. In individual psychotherapy, I make use of several traditions, including person-centered and Jungian psychology, which focuses on self-examination, insight, and transformation.

  • TRAUMA-INFORMED WORK: Individuals with a highly dissociated or traumatized psychology sometimes find it difficult, or even frightening, to begin therapy without first alleviating the trauma. For those clients I often provide trauma-informed care, using tools from many disciplines (including somatic psychology) in treating PTSD and early-life trauma.

  • MAIRRAGE & COUPLE’S THERAPY: When working with couples who want to work on their relationship, I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy, a short-term model of therapy that lasts for 10-20 sessions.

  • The fee for individual sessions (50 minutes) is $150. The rate for couple’s sessions is $190 (one hour fifteen minutes).

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

THE JUNGIAN TRADITION: Jungian depth psychology focuses on understanding the unconscious forces that shape who we are. Typically, Jungian analysis involves talk therapy, dream work, and developing a relationship with the full spectrum of who we are, including the parts of ourselves that we hide from the world. Although classical Jungians sometimes focus exclusively on the theory of the psyche developed by C.G. Jung, I have a more eclectic orientation that is influenced by others who expand Jung’s original insights.

PERSON-CENTERED THERAPY: Developed by Carl Rogers, person-centered therapy focuses on the natural tendency towards growth and fulfillment. Person-centered therapy facilitates this process through unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and empathetic understanding. Anchored in empirical research, person-centered therapy forms the center of humanistic psychology.

EXISTENTIAL PSYCHOLOGY: The existential tradition focuses on the universal aspects of human being, including the fear of living and the struggle to find meaning and significance in our lives. Rather than see anxiety and depression as a “mental illnesses,” existential psychotherapy understands these conditions as a result of inner struggles. One key aspect of existential psychotherapy is the emphasis on taking responsibility for our choices and healing our wounds.
